David Hill on SB20

On the Carolina Democracy podcast on April 2, 2024, NC Senate District 7 candidate David Hill spoke out against Michael Lee’s vote for Senate Bill 20, the Care for Women, Children, and Families Act. He said, “…[Michael Lee’s] vote was actually critical to breaking the veto that allowed SB20 to pass,” implying he would have voted against SB20.

After this interview, David Hill approved and paid for a TV ad attacking Michael Lee for his vote for SB20. Here is a screen shot of that commercial:

At campaign meet-and-greets, David Hill criticized Senate Bill 20, saying it is “dangerous.” (Note: in the clip below from an event on April 23, 2024 he states that the exception for the life and health of the mother in SB20 puts mothers at risk…however, SB20 did not change existing law at the time that included an exception for the life and health of the mother.)

The record is clear that David Hill would have voted against Senate Bill 20 and that he opposes it today.
